It’s important to take lots of care in your planning, and to do everything you can to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

However, if on the day you worry about every last detail and that all timings are adhered to rigorously, you won’t enjoy the day! Some timings are important – you need to know when the musicians are going to arrive, and they need to know the latest time you’ll want them to play, for example – but it’s generally better to decide on a broad timetable and let the musicians know that, within this, flexibility on both sides is the watchword!

Most bridal couples have a good idea of what they consider to be “good” music, and quite rightly want to have considerable input into the music that their band plays. But an experienced band will have a good idea what will or won’t work at a wedding, and the sensible bridal couple, rather than specifying a definite and restrictive playlist, will seek to work with the band to agree on a broad format for the evening’s entertainment, will agree a few specific requests with the band, but will leave the band to fill in the gaps.

Booking FAQs

Because of the vast range of circumstances we have to take into account (travel, dates, size of venue, PA requirements etc…) we do not have a fixed price. Please get in touch using the ‘Contact’ option on the navigation bar and we will give you an accurate quote within a few hours, normally much sooner.

Step 1 – Contact us – We will require some booking details from you via email or telephone. These should include: your contact information, details of the venue, performance times and any special requirements. (Complete our contact form or call 07841 385759)

Step 2 – Secure your date – Once you are happy with all the arrangements, a small deposit is payable within 5 days to secure the date of the event. Dates are offered on a first come first serve basis.

Step 4 – When is payment due?
A £300.00 deposit will book your date and the balance is due one month before the day of the engagement payable by Bank Account Transfer.

We play two hours of live music, in two sets. Normally 45 minutes in the first set, then a 1 hour and 15 minutes in the second set?

We provide a DJ service to 12pm. If you would like us to DJ for longer this can be arranged.

About 40-50 minutes at a normal venue assuming there’s straight forward access.

We will always try to accommodate your requests and can look and an extra fee for a longer set.

It is best to check that we play the kind of music that you’d like at your wedding before you book. We invariably pick our setlist on the night according to the crowd in front of us in order to maximise the number of people on your dance floor. We are very experienced wedding performers so we know what works. If you’d like to pick the tracks for the DJ service, that is absolutely fine.

Yes. We will have to rehearse this before the day so this will be an extra cost.

We have an extensive list of professional stand-in musician’s who can fill in if an unusual circumstance/event coincides with our booking with you.

We provide a solo or duo acoustic performance for your drinks reception and a selected iPod playlist for your Wedding Breakfast. We can supply microphones for speeches if required. We normally play for an hour, but this can be flexible on request.

Usually 1 hour. This can be changed to fit your needs if required.

No, in the afternoon set we play relaxed, modern and classic songs, perfect to enjoy a glass of fizz with.

A place to plug in our equipment and a covering (eg a gazebo or natural shelter) if outside or an alternative place to play inside.

We will provide live and/or recorded music (if you prefer) for walking down the aisle, signing of the register, and recession of wedding party (we recommend two songs for the signing of the register). We would require power in the church venue and can liaise with the church or venue before hand.

Performance FAQs

Yes, we supply a high end quality sound system which is loud enough to fill most wedding and party venues for numbers of up to 300, and we also provide stage and disco lighting. We aren’t able to bring our own stage but we are perfectly happy to play on the floor.

We need 4 13amp (standard) plug sockets and we draw approx 4kW of power.

Our minimum space requirement is 10ft (w) x 6ft (d)

Preparation behind the scenes is our preferred option but we are also aware this is not always possible. We are also flexible with stage or performance areas, i.e. for smaller or sound limited environments. We need time to set up our equipment and check the sound levels, (minimum of one hour). This is to ensure the best volume and sound quality for your venue.

They’re not ideal but more and more venues are having them installed so we’ve learned to cope with them. Just please make sure you let us know in advance!

We certainly are! Most of our hotel venues insist upon it so we have £5,000,000 public liability insurance.

Yes and we’re happy to email them to the venue before the event with our insurance!

We can always take requests for the Disco set but we’re not able to learn specific requests for the band set. We are able to learn first dance songs for a small charge if you’d like it performed live and it’s not in our existing repertoire. Please enquire to see if your choice is suitable for our band lineup.

All we ask is that you’re able to provide soft drinks and a meal for each member of the band. If there’s an evening ‘buffet’, that normally means letting us join in with that.

We are professionals. We also hold £5 million public liability insurance and all equipment is regularly PAT tested (portable appliance tested) for electrical safety. Blair, Preston & Leighton have a wealth of experience in playing live and all bookings are confirmed in writing. If you do decide to book a band with low prices, please remember that you usually get what you pay for.

In most circumstances this is not possible as we specialise in performances at private functions. Bands who regularly play at pubs are probably not the type you’d hire for an important private party as pubs don’t pay the money required for top quality acts.

The best artists get booked very quickly so if you find one that you like, you are much safer basing your decision to hire on the strength of their tracks, set list, biography and references from other clients.
